The Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre (AMSMC) was established in 1979 at the University of British Columbia under the name British Columbia Sports Medicine Centre. In 1985, through the generous donation of the McGavin family, the clinic expanded and was renamed after Allan McGavin, a chancellor and avid supporter of the university.
The AMSMC consists of four divisions - Physiotherapy, Primary Care, Orthopedic and Research. This creates a unique combination of integrated services and expertise to provide high quality care for every patient; from the "weekend warrior" to Olympic and professional athletes.
