- The Industrial Athlete
- Just as an athlete prepares to perform in their sport, a worker will lead a safer, more comfortable life by preparing for their tasks. This active and interactive workshop will discuss common work-related injuries and how to prevent them via daily warm-up, correct biomechanics, and home exercises, allowing you to go home each day without aches and pains.
- Lifting Pain Free
- This hands-on workshop is similar to the “The Industrial Athlete” but will have a greater focus on proper posture, lifting biomechanics, and specific core stability exercises.
- Running Injury Free
- This popular workshop will discuss the factors contributing to being a healthy, efficient runner. This is applicable to everyone, from the once a week jogger to the runner training for a marathon. We will discuss the key components of a proper running program: physical preparation (flexibility/strength), cross training, periodization, running biomechanics, and recovery.
- Stretch It Out
- Stretching has several benefits including increased joint mobility, muscle flexibility, and reduced post-exercise soreness. This interactive class will involve stretching of all the major muscle groups.
- Preventing Sports Injuries

Let the experts from the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre lead your team in a workshop on how to enjoy sports to the fullest by optimizing performance and preventing injuries. The topics will include common sports injuries, preparation on and off the field, recovery and acute treatment of injuries.
- Athlete Screening
- This program is designed to ensure athletes are ready to participate in sport. Our sport physiotherapists will provide a thorough functional assessment to identify any muscle imbalances, bony malalignments or joint instability. From this, the athlete can actively address any risk factors with corrective exercises. This takes approximately 45 minutes per athlete.
- The Fundamentals of a Resistance Training Program
- Weight training programs can be the most effective to assist in the improvement of posture, weight loss or strength improvements. This lecture will breakdown the elements of an effective weight training program with simple variations to keep you from reaching plateaus and being as interesting as possible

- Through popular media we are constantly bombarded with many contradictory ideas when it comes to exercise and weight loss. This series will tackle some of the common and uncommon myths, explain the reality behind them and help to understand how to recognize accurate information from information that may be misleading with fitness and nutrition

- The implementation of simple planning and goal recognition can go a long way. This talk will cover the most effective strategies to ensure an individual can set out realistic, achievable goals to turn small successes into large milestones.
